Elderberry

Scientists began getting intrigued by elderberry (Sambucus nigra) in the mid 1990s after an Israeli virologist discovered it made it harder for viruses to penetrate cell walls.

A few years later, it was the public that got excited, when a research study found than elderberry greatly helped people with the flu: 90% of the people on the elderberry were completely better in 2-3 days. It took six days, on the other hand, for the people on the placebo to have similar results. Another study has since confirmed these findings.

The great thing about elderberry is, it not only works directly on the virus itself, but also stimulates the immune system. And its rich antioxidant content, which helps vitamin C work, doesn't hurt either.
