The most important thing you can do to regulate your blood sugar is to watch what you eat. And to do that, you need to understand two concepts: the glycemic index, and glycemic load. Of course some of us have medical problems which make it difficult to control blood sugar purely through diet.
 
Type I (juvenile-onset) diabetes strikes in childhood, when our own immune systems get confused and attacks the insulin-producing cells of our pancreas. Although the autoimmunity passes, our capacity to produce healthy levels of insulin never recovers. It's tough to control type I diabetes with natural medicine.
