Aromatherapy

The healing power of the organic essences of aromatic plants was not named until 1937 when a French chemist, Rene Gatefosse, coined the word “Aromatherapy”. Gatefosse was working in his lab of perfumery when he suddenly, but severely, burnt his hand. The chemist sunk his burnt hand into the nearest bowl of liquid, the substance happened to be the essential oil of lavender. Luckily for Gatefosse the healing and antiseptic qualities of the pure lavender oil was much greater than any other substances available to him at that time, and his badly damaged hand healed with abnormal speed and practically no scarring.

This 70 year old “accident” proves that aromatherapy is one of the most important healers for common and severe ailments. MyHealthMyWorld hope that you will give the near magical healing powers of essential oils a try......more about Aromatherapy.

More About Aromatherapy:

Although, aromatherapy is a relatively new term, the use of essential oils can be traced back 6,000 years to ceremonies in the ancient Vedic and Egyptian traditions. The use of fragrances is rooted in ancient histories of Egypt, India, Greece and Rome, where aromatic plants were used for religious, cosmetic and medical purposes. Aromatherapy is now a widely practiced complementary medicine

Aromatherapy is defined as the inhalation and application of volatile essential oils from aromatic plants to restore or enhance health, beauty and well-being. It has the effect improving a person's mental outlook and sense of well-being by affecting the limbic system via the olfactory nerve, or the sense of smell. When practiced correctly it helps maintain and promote physical, psychological, and spiritual well being.

Aromatherapy is often called an "alternative" or "complementary therapy," one that can be used in conjunction with other therapies, including headache and migraine medications. The effectiveness of aromatherapy varies widely between individuals - perhaps because it is as individual as people's sense of smell! Perhaps for this reason aromatherapy is effective when used for pets.

Aromatherapy is practiced to induce the relaxation of body and mind, relief pain and promote wellbeing, health and beauty through the use of  fragrances by affecting the limbic system via the olfactory nerve, or the sense of smell.

Aromatherapy is useful in the management and treatment of many opportunistic infections and also in improving the client's emotional and spiritual health. The method is practiced as a complimentary treatment to modern medicine as people look to embrace a more holistic approach to their well-being. Aromatherapy is generally quite safe, it is important to keep in mind that it is a complementary therapy and not a substitute for conventional medical care. Aromatherapy is simple and safe enough to be done at home, but seeing a trained practitioner may help you choose the right essential oils for the effects you want.

Fragrances are oils called "essential oils" that have been distilled from herbs, fruits, petals, bark, rind, sap, flowers, roots, seeds, leaves, grasses. MyHealthMyWorld provides both Lavender and Eucalyptus Oils. Lavenders is our favorite for relaxation, and is recommended  for treating wounds, to enhance memory, and to aid sleep by combating anxiety and insomnia. The Eucalyptus works better, at least for us, for dealing with head colds and occasional headaches. We also just like the smell!

Aromatherapy is not limited to these two oils, there great many number of plants and herbs containing oils which possess therapeutic properties. It is also not just restricted to oil formulations, essential oils are often into candles as a means to disperse the smells. Essential oils are distilled from herbs, fruits, petals, bark, rind, sap, flowers, roots, seeds, leaves, grasses.
